There are currently 4 sections related to expanding our Stock Kits. The first is concerned with basic kit components, such as color, primer, etc. The next three are concerned with conditions that may or may not be present in every situation. These are general guidelines, and subject to exceptions that may be beyond our ability to predict. We have established these charts based on our experience with typical projects, but cannot be held responsible for the extensive variables that may be present in any project. The items indicated in the following charts are meant to be purchased in addition to the basic Stock Kit, as they are either not present, or are present in insufficient quantities to support project expansion. Basic Component Additions for Stock Kits

Extensive Fading (unfinished leather only)

Sun fading is a typical condition that prompts clients to look for leather restoration solutions. Unfinished (or aniline-dyed, un-pigmented) leathers are susceptible to fading due to UV exposure. Penetrating Moisturizer is designed to re-instill lost moisture associated with extensive sun exposure and fading on unfinished leathers only. Visit our leather types page if you are not sure what type of leather you have before adding Penetrating Moisturizer to your kit. It is only effective on unfinished leathers. Print coat failure on a finished leather can be mis-diagnosed as fading. If you are still unsure after visiting that resource page, call or email us for assistance.

Body Oil Accumulation

Oil accumulation in leather usually represents as a dark spot in areas where the leather comes into contact with bare skin (arm-rest, head-rest, or seat-top), and must be dealt with prior to any leather restoration project. Excess oils interfere with the adhesion of any new color application, and are a virtual guarantee of premature failure if not dealt with. A visit to the Product Description and Application Sheet for the Oil Extractor product may be helpful.

Our definition for accumulation in the following table is established by single seating area measurement (a single arm-rest, a single headrest, a single seat-top). We use this definition as oil accumulation almost always is represented in these areas only. It is defined below as:

• Light - involves 25% or less of arm-rest, and/or head-rest area, and/or seat-top.
• Moderate - involves 25-50% of arm-rest, and/or head-rest area, and/or seat-top.
• Heavy - involves more than 50% of arm-rest, and/or head-rest area, and/or seat-top.

Cat Scratch Repair

Cat claw damage is a common problem that may need more just the kit color to resolve. Light scratches may disappear when the Base Color is applied, but the deeper scratches will probably require the application of a filler to help hide them. Below is a chart to help you determine which size filler option to choose. Either size option comes with all the other Cat Scratch Repair components.
